#GeorgeFloyd Black Lives Matter (engl.)

Black Family, many of us need to mourn, many of us are angry, many of us
feel the need to do something, please reach out to us and let us know
what you need. We canceled the BLM March in July because we refuse to
put Black lives at risk during this pandemic. We stand by this decision
but are open to finding a way to support our community. Many of you
tried to join our monthly Stammtisch yesterday, so we may have another
soon, so we can see and talk with each other. Please contact us via
email: kontakt@blacklivesmatterberlin.de

White people, many of you have written us, expecting us to organize a
march so you can perform your support. But ask yourself, do you need to
march to just make yourself feel better? What does showing your
solidarity mean when it’s limited to a march but goes no further? What
do you do on the days you aren’t marching? If it’s so important to
you, then why don’t organize it yourself and ask us what we need you
to do in order to include our voices?

We are not here to serve your need to show your lowest level of
“allyship”. Every week a Black person is murdered, Oury Jalloh was
murdered over a decade ago and nothing happened. Hanau was less than 3
months ago, do you even remember their names? Today is the anniversary
of the neo-nazis murdering 5 people in Solingen. If you show up only
when Black murder is trending, then you are just another problem in the
fight for racial justice.

Everyone, in the meantime, we’ve spoken to organizers in Minneapolis
and they’ve asked us to support their movement on the ground doing the
following things:

Sign these Petitions:

Donate to the Black led orgs working in Minnesota (Minnesota Freedom
Fund for bail outs confirmed online they have more than enough money at
the moment)

Send Donations to George Floyd’s Family:

If you have friends, family or people in Minnesota, specifically
Minneapolis, tell them to write and call immediately. If you are NOT
from Minnesota, TakeAction Minnesota recommends that you email to add
pressure that the world is watching. Here’s a template email to copy,
edit and send:

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman Call: (612) 348-5550 Email:

Hello, my name is [your name].

I’m emailing because I demand accountability for the racist murder of
George Floyd. I demand that you press charges against all of the
officers involved in the incident, including Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao.
George Floyd should be alive today, and all cops involved must be held
accountable for his murder, in order to get justice for George’s family
and prevent this brutality and violence from happening in the future.
Thank you.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Call: (612) 673-2100

Hello, my name is [your name].

I’m emailing because I demand accountability for the racist murder of
George Floyd. I urge you to defund the Minneapolis Police Department
during the special budget session and instead invest in community
programs that will help reduce the amount of violence in Minneapolis.
George Floyd should be alive today, and we must start providing more
support towards community efforts in order to prevent this brutality and
violence from happening in the future. Thank you.

In solidarity,

Black Lives Matter Berlin
